Mercury Lounge oozes estrogen tonight at the nine-hour-plus Downtown Girls/Uptown Girls. “Some girls want to go out, but they might only do the first part of the night, because they have to work the next day, or they have something to do early on and want to come out later,” says party planner Jessica George. “This is perfect for everybody.”
At Mercury’s weekly celebration of everything female, George issues “smart cards” that provide discounts on martinis, mixed drinks, and champagne. “Ladies’ Night has become an order-a-Purple-Hooter-and-feather-your-bangs term,” she says. “It’s horrible, overused, and cheesy. We’re doing a proper party night, where the new generation is coming out.”
