Since I discovered this guy while watching a Zach Braff movie and, later, What About Brian, I’m pretty sure I already know the answer, but I figured I’d put it to the people: if I like Joshua Radin’s music, am I still a man? This is an important, timely question, because Radin, a Cleveland native, plays the House of Blues Cambridge Room next month, and I have to decide whether or not to ask the boss for free tickets. On one hand, having tickets might make me seem like a nice, sensitive-seeming date. On the other hand, I might get fired for being part-girl. And I need the health insurance. Of course, it won’t change my opinion of the music: Anything that could make me cry during a cab ride to the airport after a three-day bender in Vegas is, by my standards, quality music, and I’m pretty sure Josh could have me weeping until my plane hit the Hopkins tarmac. But I have to know: is there anything remotely manly about this stuff? Please use the comment section to help me wade through this difficult moment in my life. And tell your friends. Clearly, I need all the help I can get. — Joe P. Tone

  1. Listening to this made me think: wow, Joshua Radin must be a true man … this is a person who doesn’t have a ounce of rock left in him because he already spent it all kicking ass and taking names … like Joe Tone.
A few years ago, Joshua Radin put down his Les Paul and turned off The Who because he thought: wow, I’ve rocked so hard for so long, I can’t do it anymore, I’m just that good. And then he realized the ridiculous case of VD he got from that one girl in Racine, WI came because he turned it up to “11” one too many times. So he figured might as well pop my collar, play acoustic, and get some Miami girl trim … this guy is brilliant.
Joe, go see Joshua Radin. After all, all the Miami girls in northeast Ohio will be there. And if you can deal with their eating “problems” I heard they’re worth bank.
In other news, the Gay Congress passed HR 32107 updating the standard for Aggravated Gayness from 1 Fray song to 10 seconds of Joshua Radin. Oh how the great have fallen.

  2. Hey dude…if music can’t move you, what will? Josh kinda verbalizes those things we feel but don’t want to admit. And rest assured, there’s plenty of guys at his concerts. I’ll be at the HOB for sure. With my woman.

  3. Well, if you think liking this guy is too girly (which by the way I don’t agree with), then why don’t you just ask your boss and say that you have a chick friend that really likes him so you want to take her. Yes? No? Does he sing any songs that might be more “manly” than the one he is singing? Even if the answer is no, I don’t think it’s girly…but I would think it would be a boring concert.
