John Mulrooney recalls the night he decided to become a stand-up comedian. It was like a revelation. Then he broke the news to his parents. “I said, ‘Mom, Dad — I found out what I’m going to do with the rest of my life,’” he says. “My father said, ‘I’m going to bed.’ My mother said, ‘Why don’t you come into the kitchen, and we’ll make a cup of tea and talk about it.’”
Lately, Mulrooney’s been busy promoting “enlaughterment” — which he describes as “self-help with a punch line.” “I take an Aha! and make it an A-ha-ha!,” he says.
