Mile-high adrenaline rushes are on tap for this weekend’s Banff Mountain Film Festival, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The annual showcase spotlights the best mountain-based, extreme-sports movies made during the past 12 months. The lineup includes everything from the ice-climbing saga Aweberg to Kids Who Rip, which features junior snowboarders. “We have one of the most enthusiastic audiences in the country,” says Christine Russell, president of On the Edge Films, which organizes the fest.

Sixteen movies screen at Playhouse Square tonight and tomorrow. Look out for audience fave Asiemut, a documentary about a Canadian couple’s six-month, five-thousand-mile cycling expedition across Asia. Also check out Anomaly, in which skiers and boarders perform a bunch of gravity-defying stunts, and the mountain-biking epic Roam. To honor the festival’s first decade, there’s a pre-show party tomorrow, featuring complimentary beer, brownies, and goody bags. “You’ve got films, food, drink, music,” says Russell. “Everything of interest to the outdoor enthusiast.”
