This week’s top arts and entertainment picks around town, from the guy who’s paid to pick them: Monday: Forced Alter Ego — the second part of photographer Julius M. Lyles’ ongoing Internal Baggage Project — just opened, and it’s pretty cool. Lyles asked a bunch of black men about identity, then he took their pictures. The results are an incisive look at businessmen, students, and activists in Cleveland.
Tuesday: Plan to get hammered tonight? Then the Apex club has a pretty sweet deal. Every Tuesday and Thursday it offers free limo rides to and from the bar. So you can get plastered in style. The only catch: You have to stay there a couple hours and drink. We see no problem with that.
Wednesday: If our college had a Beer School like the Great Lakes Brewing Company [http://www.clevescene.com/search/events.php?eventSearch=1&date=2007-02-21&event_occurance=both], we would’ve graduated a lot sooner. Or maybe we’d still be there. Hard to tell.
Thursday: Malajube come from Canada, and they make a lotta noise. They also sing in French. Just because we can’t understand a word on their new CD, Trompe-l’oeil, doesn’t mean we don’t get it. They play the Grog Shop tonight.
Friday: The Western Reserve Historical Society brings Diana: A Celebration to town today. Filled with the gay icon/dead princess’ wedding dress, tiara, and childhood mementos, the exhibit gives Clevelanders a peek into the life of the only royalty Americans ever cared about. –Michael Gallucci
