To hear the flower folk at the Cleveland Botanical Garden tell it, when it comes to buying your boo a Valentine's Day flower, the red rose is
so 2007. Instead, they suggest a "seductive" spray of orchids as the bouquet of choice. If you have no clue what that means, check out the garden's annual
Orchid Mania exhibit, which is on display for the next month. As patrons walk past arrays of the flower, they'll learn how the exotic plant has brought fragrance to everything from perfumes to cosmetics. "Orchid doctors" will also lead workshops on growing orchid gardens and ways to keep the blooms from wilting. The exhibit runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays, through Sunday, March 9, at the Cleveland Botanical Garden, 11030 East Boulevard. Admission is $7.50 ($3 for kids age 3 to 12). Call 216-721-1600 or visit
