Comedian Professor Milo Tremley started life as James Lee Reeves, a Los Angeles history major who wanted to be Elvis when he grew up. “I was determined to be a success in the music business,” he says. “I absolutely failed at it.” Broke and deep in debt, he relocated to Nashville and started writing funny tunes — just like Weird Al. Inspired by three failed marriages, Reeves began dispensing dubious dating advice in his songs. “I failed so utterly in my personal life,” he says. “So, I made lemonade out of lemons.”

These days, Reeves’ stand-up show consists of musical performances as well as a Q&A session, in which the prof answers audience members’ queries about romance. But he sorta cheats a little. “I don’t read any question that I don’t have a punch line for,” he says. Plus, his outlook is a bit on the shady side. Someone once asked: Is 33 years of marriage too much? Milo’s reply: “You’ve served your time. That’s 15 more than you get for murder.”
