Casino Twilight Dogs, the third album by the Australian
Youth Group, has a lot in common with mopey pop-rockers like Coldplay. Songs ride waves of big, sweeping choruses, while singer Toby Martin injects dashes of longing and melancholy into his warm vocals. But unlike the Snow Patrol brigade, Youth Group occasionally jingle-jangles its way across a power-pop soundscape, which ultimately makes its music more hopeful than any of its contemporaries.
