Rob Morrow jokes that he’ll be issuing plenty of BWI — Bowling While Intoxicated — tickets at tonight’s Rock & Bowl outing at his bar, Put-in-Bay. Every Thursday for the past couple of months, customers have been taking Morrow up on his three-games-for-$5 deal on the 12 lanes in the back of the bar. Local band Rock Shop provides the soundtrack, playing in the front of the former Lakewood Lanes. “Bowling is kinda hip right now,” says Morrow.

Morrow remodeled the front of the club to replicate parts of the Frosty’s, Roundhouse, and Boathouse bars that he used to manage in his native Put-in-Bay. He’s even docked a handmade powerboat to a wooden pier at the front window. “It’s no longer just a bowling alley,” he says. “To me, opening in Lakewood was a natural fit, because the city is the embodiment of Put-in-Bay, with its captive audience. They like to have fun, they like to go out, and they like to drink.”
