– The Cleveland Orchestra’s Opera and Humanities Festival continues its exploration of reconciliation this week at Severance Music Center with performances of Leoš Janáček’s Jenůfa on Thursday at 7:00 pm and Sunday at 3:00 pm. Franz Welser-Möst conducts a cast that includes Latonia Moore (Jenůfa), Samuel Levine (Laca), Miles Mykkanen (Števa), and Nina Stemme, soprano (Kostelnička).
On Friday at 7:30 pm and Saturday at 8:00 pm Welser-Möst, The Cleveland Orchestra and Chorus present “Vox Humana,” a program that includes Francis Poulenc’s La voix humaine, with soprano Sarah Aristidou, J.S. Bach’s Concerto & Aria from Komm, Jesu, komm, Galina Ustvolskaya’s Symphony No. 5, “Amen” (Tony Sias, narrator) and Richard Strauss’ Symphonic Fantasy on Die Frau ohne Schatten.

– The final Brownbag Concert of the season at Trinity Cathedral on Wednesday, May 21 features Trobár. This small band of voices and instruments is dedicated to bringing medieval music to modern audiences. It’s free.
– On Thursday, May 22 at 7:00 pm Renovare Music presents A Hive’s Song: The Frequency of Sisterhood. An evening of instrumental music and original documentary songs written in collaboration with My Sistas Keeper, a collective of black, female, urban beekeepers in Greater Cleveland. Panel discussion and reception to follow. Neighborhood Connections, (1971 E. 66th St., Cleveland.) Free but registration requested.
– Cleveland Chamber Collective presents Music of America VIII on Sunday, May 25 at 3:00 pm at Disciples Church. The latest program in their series features works by Missy Mazzoli, Eric D. Gould, and Katherine Hoover, plus world premieres by Ty Alan Emerson and Eric Charnofsky. It’s free and live streamed here.
– On Tuesday, May 27 at 7:30 pm, Apollo’s Fire presents their summer concert program ¡HISPANIA! – A Voyage from Spain to the Americas. (The Bath Church UCC, 3980 W. Bath Road, Akron.) Tickets are available online.
