
Series of events come, go, and continue in the Northeast Ohio classical music calendar this week.
– The Kent Blossom Music Festival begins on Wednesday with a 7:30 recital by Windsync wind quintet and pianist Jon Kimura Parker in Ludwig Recital Hall at Kent State. Tickets available online.
– And the Tri-C JazzFest takes over Playhouse Square from Thursday through Saturday (click here for tickets). Here’s what else is on tap at the festival.

Appearing on Friday: Centennial Tribute to Oscar Peterson with the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, featuring Benny Green and Dan Wilson (5:30 pm, Mimi Ohio Theater, Stanley Clarke N•4EVER (7:15 pm, Connor Palace), and Sun Ra Arkestra (9 pm, Mimi Ohio Theatre).
SATURDAY:
Dominick Farinacci & Friends / Taylor Eigsti and Christian Tamburr Celebrate Chick Corea and Gary Burton (2 pm, Mimi Ohio Theatre), The Baylor Project (5 pm, Mimi Ohio Theatre), Kirk Whalum / Jonathan Butler (7 pm, Connor Palace) and Pedrito Martinez Group (9:30 pm, Mimi Ohio Theatre.)
– ChamberFest Cleveland wraps up with a trio of concerts. Thursday’s “Sing Hallelujah” performance is sold out, but these two aren’t last we’ve heard (tickets available online.)
“Inventions of Memory” features Brett Dean’s Epitaphs for String Quintet (7:30 Friday, Harkness Chapel at Case)
“Songs, Signs, and Souvenirs” features selections from György Kurtág’s Signs, Games and Messages (Saturday at 7:30, with a 6:30 prelude by violist Emad Zolfaghari, Reinberger Chamber Hall at Severance Music Center.)
– And Ohio Light Opera continues in Freedlander Theater at the College of Wooster with Lerner and Loewe’s Brigadoon (Wednesday at 2 pm), George and Ira Gershwin’s Tip-Toes (opening performance Thursday at 2 pm), and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel (Friday at 2 pm). Tickets available online.
