It’s a fact of life that kids break toys. Still, what a waste of Mommy and Daddy’s hard-earned money when dolls’ heads turn up missing and the wheels roll off Matchbox cars. Nevertheless, that’s what the Akron Art Museum wants to see at this afternoon’s Island of Misfit Toys workshop. For four hours, kids can rip apart old playthings before mixing and matching parts to create revamped toys. The best part is, the museum provides the ammo, from old Transformers to Mr. Potato Heads. And when the tykes aren’t pretending to be toy doctors, they can dance, listen to music, and watch kiddie flicks. The destruction starts at noon today at the Akron Art Museum, 1 South High Street in Akron. Admission is free. Call 330-376-9186 or visit www.akronartmuseum.org.
