Yes, this weekends Lazy Daisy Fest at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park features all Dead — all day and all night, says spokesman Evan Kelley. But unlike the venues other hippie bashes, the fourth-annual 24-hour Lazy Daisy blowout is a more family-friendly gathering. Its smaller and more local, says Kelley. Its much more intimate. And since Im not running around breaking up nonsense, I can actually have some fun.
The JiMiller Band (featuring former Oroboros frontman Jim Miller) headlines a bill that includes the Waterband, Fungus, Deep Space 6, Aiko, and the Burning River Band. Settle into a comfort zone; get to know each other, advises Kelley. You can let loose, dance, swim . . . And when you leave, you leave a little closer to your family and a little closer to who you are. Spoken like a true hippie.
