Sidney Abdoo is no vegetarian by any stretch of imagination. The 25-year-old marketing rep from Lakewood even admits she adores a rare T-bone steak swimming in A-1 sauce. But she's not going to turn down an invite from a couple of her co-workers for Lago's
Vegetarian Mondays. "It's not like I'm chained to beef for dinner," says Abdoo. "I'll try anything, as long as it tastes good."Well, pull up a chair: The restaurant's Monday-night menu features six entrées, including roasted pepper, stuffed with rice, tomatoes, onions, herbs, and drizzled with a Bagnetto verde sauce. There's also fried goat-cheese panzanella, topped with tomatoes, onions, bread bits, and a red-wine vinaigrette. The menu also boasts an arugula salad with grilled polenta and gorgonzola, or a vegan risotto with rosemary, lemon, and grilled veggies. The selections are capped off with a vegetable pizza that features onions, artichokes, and olives, and polenta gnocchi in a spicy mushroom ragu. "That's a nice variety," says Abdoo. "Either way, I don't have to make it." Dinner is served between 5 and 10 p.m. Mondays at Lago, 2221 Professor Avenue. Call 216-344-0547 to make reservations.
