Nine years ago, Patrick DeGuire contracted an eye disease and lost much of his vision. He then began performing stand-up comedy as a form of “self-therapy,” he says. Amazingly, he won the 1998 Improv/Harrahs National Comedy Club Talent Search and toured with Tommy Davidson, George Lopez, and Paul Rodriguez. Now he uses his disability as a punch line. “I’m afraid to discipline my own children,” he quips. “They’re the ones that help me cross the street.” It just gets worse from there.
