Nine years ago, Patrick DeGuire contracted an eye disease and lost much of his vision. He then began performing stand-up comedy as a form of self-therapy, he says. Amazingly, he won the 1998 Improv/Harrahs National Comedy Club Talent Search and toured with Tommy Davidson, George Lopez, and Paul Rodriguez. Now he uses his disability as a punch line. Im afraid to discipline my own children, he quips. Theyre the ones that help me cross the street. It just gets worse from there.
