Michelangelo and More

Treasures on Paper opens today at the Cleveland Museum of Art opens today and is a gathering of more than 70 of the finest prints and drawings in the museum’s collection. Fifty of these pieces belong to a series of 15th-century engravings that are hand-colored in gold. One of Michelangelo’s red chalk studies for the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling will be on display. Also included is a very rare piece etched by Peter Bruegel the Elder of The Rabbit Hunt as well as other prints and drawings by artists like Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt van Rijn, Edgar Degas,and Winslow Homer, with dates ranging from the 15th through the 19th centuries. This exhibit runs through June 8. Admission is free. (Trenholme)
