Over the Rhine describes its style as “post-nuclear, pseudo-alternative, folk tinged art pop,” but most just need one word to describe it — beautiful. These native Ohioans are always a fan favorite of folk enthusiasts around the state, drawing a loyal following wherever they play. The group’s recordings are nothing that will land them on regular radio airplay, but that’s never been the goal. Seeing the duo live is a heartwarming experience. The voices of Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist are eerily perfect together and will immerse you in a sorrowful world of thought-provoking lyrics. The band’s new release, Meet Me At The Edge Of The World, is set to come out Sept. 3 and has already been recorded and mastered. The two are also in the midst of recording a second Christmas album set to come out this year. In other words, you can expect a lot of new material at this show. (William Hoffman)
