Based in Portland, Ore., and anchored by two couples, Radiation City has been cultivating a nice following in the country’s indie circle for a few years now. We might liken them to a more straight-forward Dirty Projectors, if that’s your thing. The band’s new album, Synesthetica, offers up a dazzling tour of sounds and moods. Drummer Randy Bemrose has a knack for shifting the rhythm from section to section in each song, either matching or — often — contrasting Elisabeth Ellison and Patti King’s mellifluous vocals.
