The Columbus location of Sushi Rock closed its doors last weekend for good. That restaurant opened four years ago on “the Cap,” the commercial complex that covers Interstate 670, linking downtown to the Short North. This closure follows the shuttering of the Warehouse District Sushi Rock a little over a year ago.

“We were not able to renew our lease,” says Michelle Lefkowitz, Marketing Director for Sushi Rock restaurants. “It was high rent and the Short North area of Columbus is tricky.”

Despite rumors to the contrary, Sushi Rock has no plans to close its Beachwood restaurant, adds Lefkowitz. “We are pulling back and re-establishing the brand,” she says. “We are currently looking for a location on the west side of Cleveland.”

In addition to the Beachwood Sushi Rock, the group also operates Salt 7 in Del Ray Beach, Florida. “Salt 7 is very successful and Beachwood is doing just fine,” says Lefkowitz.
