Katie Parla is an American-born, Rome-based food and drinks writer with a huge passion for the culture of her adopted city. Much of that history, culture and food finds its way into her latest cookbook, “Tasting Rome: Fresh Flavors and Forgotten Recipes from an Ancient City” (Clarkson Potter, $30). Through recipes and narratives, the book digs deeply into classic Roman foods and their origins and variations.

Parla will be spending the day at Citizen Pie (15710 Waterloo Rd., 216-417-2742) on Sunday, May 15, cooking with owner and pizzaiolo Vytauras Sasnauskas and the team. Ticketed attendees will enjoy a family-style multi-course meal consisting of an antipasto and salumi board, the classic arancini of Rome, specialty pizzas created just for the event, dessert and a signed copy of “Tasting Rome.”
