Good to Go Café in the Fairmont Creamery is Good to Go

It took some time, but Good to Go Café has opened in the Fairmont Creamery building in Tremont (2306 W. 17th St., 216-523-4447). It joins chef-owner Anna Harouvis’ other Good to Go shop in the IMG Building downtown. Like the original, this one offers a mix of healthy foods for breakfast, lunch and snacktime.

“Since my dad died, I’ve always had this vision of doing healthy fast food because he was a junk food advocate,” Harouvis explains from behind the counter. “I’m trying to put the food back in fast food.”

The bright and tidy shop in the recently redeveloped dairy complex offers both grab-and-go items like Harouvis’ raw cold-pressed juices, kale chips, quinoa bowls and pastries as well as build your-own-sandwiches that are created from a choice of proteins, veggies and toppings. In the morning, tenants of the building pop in for Rising Star coffee; in the afternoon, gym members refuel with healthy snacks like creamy cashew milk or a raw chocolate pudding enriched with avocado.

“The people in the building have been super supportive; they were the first to come down,” Harouvis says of her new neighbors.

Everything sold here is GMO-free and gluten-free, but it is not meat-free, despite Harouvis’ reputation as a raw and vegan chef.

“I don’t want to push my beliefs on anybody,” she says. “As long as I can source great proteins that are certified GMO-free, I’m okay with serving them.”

For now, that means rotisserie-style chicken, but will soon include lamb and fish.

Located across the street from the Cleveland Animal Protective League, Fairmont Creamery is not far from the West Side Market and offers plenty of free parking.
