Redditer TPH2 posted a query on the social sharing site last night asking, simply, If you were leaving Cleveland forever, what would you get for your last meal?

Oh, how the impassioned responses have flooded in (each more “Clevelandy” than the next).

Here are some our favorites:

funkmunk3y: Geraci’s large pepperoni

rcc13:[Mitchell’s] Caramel fudge brownie and caramelized chocolate.

xkisses: Cassoulet from l’albatros gets my vote, every time.

TimHagansStent: bacon avocado eggs benedict from borderline cafe

scoobydrew0: One fresh apple fritter from the west side market. Eaither bakery dont care.

AlpacaFight: The gnocchi from trattoria. Or the chicken and waffles sandwich at Melt.

sticker14: Two words: Stadium. Mustard.

JamesRenner: Sokolowskis. Everything.

mynamemightbejack: Happy dog with everything on it. Edit: even froot loops

tj111: Fat Heads – I’d get the Killer smokehouse wings and a shit ton of beer.

TPH2[S]: I think I’d pick the fried chicken meal from Hot Sauce Williams

Garth_McKillian: Atomic Dog with fries from ABC.

ThurBurtman: A meatball sub from Dagwoods in Parma, or a Deep Dish with extra sweet sauce from Napoleons.

scottheisel: Currently, I would say the Double Sasquatch at Beer Engine. But tomorrow, it would probably be a large pan crust double pepperoni pizza from Angelo’s. But in all reality, if I were really moving away, the very last thing I would eat here would be the Melt Challenge.

darthdeighan: Sunnyside pizza from Bar Cento.

ironicirenic: The machaca taquitos from Momocho. Or Bucci’s fettuccine alfredo.

atipofthescale: A CeeBee with fries and a chocolate banana milkshake from Tommy’s. I’d probably make room for a slice of veggie pizza too!

]pyster: #10 meal with a #3 at Superior Pho or Pig Face at the Green House.

engraced: Steve’s Gyros in WSM.

cowman435: Eggs Benny from Big Al’s Diner

MaxThroughput: Meat Lovers Pizza w/Jalapenos from MapRoom

miannucciCleveland: Cleveland whiskey or earl grey ice cream from Mason’s Creamery

flipn0tic: The Elvis donut from Jack Frost.

Naturally, we must ask, what would your final Cleveland meal entail?

  1. I would walk into the West Side Market with $100 cash and walk around until I was either too full to keep walking – or – out of money! Gyro! Falafel! Fresh fruit! Campbell’s Cupcakes! Pizza Bagels! J & J Jerky! Frank’s Bratwurst!

  2. Payne Avenue Panini From Cleveland Pickle, with Campbell’s Beer Cheese Popcorn and Churned Ice Cream for Dessert! follow it with getting bombed in Tremont and having a slice of Edisons Pizza.

  3. It’s NOT two words “Stadium Mustard” but one word “BERTMAN”S”. As to the meal, the sausage hash at the West Side Market’s diner.

  4. Coconut chicken tacos and Sam Smith’s strawberry ale on taco Thursday at Touch Supper Club.. I can die happy.

  5. A corned beef and a roast beef sandwich from Slyman’s and The Grum from Grum’s on Coventry.

  6. This will kill me but here goes:
A large #8 pho and banh mi from Superior Pho
    Reuben from Slyman’s
    Cassoulet from L’Albatros
    Wings from Battiste and Dupree
    Pigs head from Greenhouse
    Duck breast from Grovewood
    Ribeye from Red
    Fresh garlic sausage from Raddell’s
    Cheese plate from Crop
    Charcuterie from L’Albatros
    Pommes frites from Bar Cento
    Yoghurt shake from Tommy’s
    Sundae from Sweet Moses

  7. A night out on west 6th then followed up with a trip to Steve’s Hotdogs on Lorain rd and order 6 chili cheese dogs all wrapped up in wax paper just to finish that night perfectly.

  8. Fattoush & Shawarma from Nate’s on 25th. But the #10 at Superior Pho with the #3 is a close 2nd.

  9. Is this for real? There are only 2 listings that are must have-the people that picked this list do not know Cleveland food. In my Charles Barkley voice ‘Jus Turble’

  10. Reverse question: I am relatively new to Cleveland from Washington DC. Where do I start? Top must haves for a newbie?

  11. House Salad from Red
Any soup from Washington Place Bistro
    Escargot from L’Albatros
Green beans & sofrito from Momocho
    Omakase from Ginko
Sharkfin Pie from Mitchell’s Fish Market

  12. I would go to Landmark Restaurant on 55th and St. Clair for a 6 am Hungry Man breakfast before I hit the Greyhound to Seattle.

  13. I would probably just go around and eat until I exploded, thus eliminating the need to leave Cleveland forever. WSM, Amp 150, Cork & Cleaver, Slymons, Santos, South Side, Edisons, and then KA-BOOM!!!

  14. Frankies in NOrth Olmsted Meatball and onion Pizza , Meatball sub w/cheese and House salad with cheese, than at Phnom Phe, North olmsted, Asiian basil fried rice, special potato noodle soup and chicken PAd THai

  15. The THIN potato pancakes at Gene’s in West Park. First place my wife ever took me when I moved here to marry her in ’92, and it would be fitting to make it the last. Place hasn’t changed at all in twenty-two years…not a hair. And that’s why we like it. I’d get the potato pancakes with a “Pa Kettle”…eggs and toast and OJ and corn beef hash. And strong black coffee. Great way to start…or end…the day.

Only thing is, if it were the last place I was eating because I was leaving Cleveland, it would probably mean one of two things–neither of them good: Either my wife has died…or we are getting a divorce. And in either case, I’d probably choke while eating–from the lump in my throat.

Then I’d hit the road…for Florida.

    Chuckles the Clown

  16. So many great places in Cleveland I could go on forever but being one who ha moved away the one last meal would be pizza from Cleveland. They just don’t make pizza everywhere else like they do in Cleveland. Now that’s another one I could go on but top 5: Luigis, Gioninos, P Jays, Angelo’s and Santos. But trust me most CTown pizza is better than where you’re going. Thank you Cleveland for all the great food.
