On Friday, November 11, the crew from Porco Lounge and Tiki Room will attempt to set the world record for crafting the largest daiquiri. The feat will take place at noon at the Fabulous Food Show.

“It’s a big deal for us,” says Porco bartender Jordan Anderson. “We’ve been all across the United States and the Internet, we might as well make it a world thing. We’ll do it the Porco way, with little planning and a lot of fun.”

Four bartenders and four barbacks will be manning four gallon-and-a-half Vitamix blenders, making batch after batch of frozen daiquiri. In an attempt to fill a 100-gallon food-grade barrel dressed up as a giant tiki mug, the team will fly through 80 bottles of Appleton Estate Rum. The current official record, as verified by the World Record Academy, was set by the El Floridita bar in Old Havana, Cuba, the birthplace of the blended rum cocktail. On July 22, 2012, the bartenders at that classic tavern whipped up a 71-gallon daiquiri.

“This will be all hands on deck,” notes owner Stefan Was.

The cocktails will be offered for consumption at signature events.
