Jia Wei opened his first restaurant, Weia Teia, in Oberlin back in 1997. He followed that successful venture up with Wild Mango, which he opened three years later at Great Northern Mall in North Olmsted. Come December, he’ll open a second Wild Mango, this one at Legacy Village.
“I have long had my sights on Legacy Village as the location for a new eastside restaurant,” Wei says. “Legacy Village reflects a comfortable, upscale ambiance that is perfectly aligned with the Wild Mango experience – from our uniquely sophisticated decor and high touch service, to the eclectic dishes that grace our menu.”
Wild Mango has earned a reputation for its distinctive cuisine, a blend of Asian, European and Latin flavors. Appetizers range from pot stickers with ginger and soy to goat cheese raviolis with tomato sauce. A Vietnamese salad bowl is countered by an iceberg wedge. Grilled strip steaks and beef tenderloin sit alongside five-spice roast duck honey-glazed chicken with steamed rice.
When it opens at the tail end of this year, it will do so in the former home of Stir Crazy, which overlooks the lawn.
“We’re delighted to welcome Wild Mango to Legacy Village,” says Legacy Village GM Susan Windle. “The restaurant will open with an established base of eastside customers who have traveled across town for years to enjoy the cuisine and ambiance that is uniquely Wild Mango.”

Congratulations to this fine operator, one of the best Asian restaurants in the city.
My wife and I have been dining at the Wild Mango in North Olmsted for a couple of years now. We also introduced many of our family members to it and have always been impressed with the quality of the food at very affordable prices.
For us, the downside to dining there is the restaurant is located on the far West side of Cleveland and we live many miles East of there so the trip is 50 minutes or so, one-way.
When we heard that a Wild Mango was to open in Legacy Village, we were delighted. That would knock a half-hour off our drive. (We expected the prices to be a bit higher as we suspect rent in Legacy Village to be higher than in Great Northern Mall.)
Last night we went to the newly-opened location (they just opened on Monday (Mar. 4th) and were delighted with what we found. Before going further, let me say that they are still completing some of the rooms so only one room was available for dining.
Nonetheless, everything about the evening was wonderful. The decor is fitting for Legacy Village with it’s rich blue chairs and light-colored, tile walls. The girl who greeted us at the door was a delight to speak with and gave us some background about the new venue.
The wait staff was very attentive and we were well -served. The food was excellent (as we’ve come to expect from Wild Mango.) All in all, it was a wonderful experience. We plan to return in a few weeks when all areas of the restaurant will be available.
With it being closer, we also anticipate more frequent visits. As for the prices, our entree was two dollars higher than at the original location but we determined it to be acceptable in lieu of the shorter drive.
We loved Weia Teia in Oberlin, so sad that this new restaurant in Legacy doesn’t have vegetarian options. Very disappointing.
