Four years after opening their wine-tasting bar in Gordon Square, owners Belinda and Jay Klein are offering it up for sale. Wyne (6800 Detroit Ave.) opened in October of 2022, in the space that had long been home to Sweet Moses.
In describing her concept to Scene, Belinda said that her goal was to create a chic but casual wine lounge designed to promote a relaxed wine-tasting experience.
“We’re called Wyne Tasting Bar and I really want people to embrace the opportunity to taste a variety of wines freely, in their own time, and without pressure from staff,” she explained at the time.
The heart of the operation is the state-of-the-art wine preservation and pouring system. Guests can sample 32 different varieties of red and white wines thanks to a self-pour system that dispenses 1-ounce tastes, 2.5-ounce half glasses or 5-ounce full glasses. Those wines shift throughout the months and years.
“Upon finding their favorite, our guests can stay and enjoy a glass or more, pair it with something to eat from the light food menu, then purchase a bottle to take home.”
Guests enjoy those wines and snacks in a stylish, two-room lounge that offers seating for 45 in a variety of soft seating areas, low tables and high tops.
The decision to sell is family-driven, say the owners. Belinda’s mother had a cancer scare in April and her father recently celebrated his 80th birthday. They have decided to move closer to their aging parents.
Ideally, the Kleins will find a buyer who shares their passion for wine exploration and community-driven events.
“After successfully establishing Wyne as a vibrant community hub, Belinda and Jay are seeking a passionate new owner to guide its next chapter. We are excited to pass the torch to an operator who will love this space and community as much as we have.”
