Public Square

In 1930, the Terminal Tower became the second-tallest building in the world and the centerpiece of Public Square -- the heart of downtown Cleveland. The tower still stands as a symbol of Cleveland, and the square below it remains one of the best people-watching spots downtown. During the holiday months, it becomes a glittering wonderland of twinkling lights and ice skaters. During the summer, the Cleveland Orchestra gives free shows on the square on holiday weekends. When the Indians went to the World Series, throngs of ardent fans crammed the square for rallies and parades. And even on regular days, you're apt to see someone preaching to anyone who will listen, couples cuddling on the benches, executives rushing into the adjacent Tower City Center mall for a quick lunch, and runners making one last lap around the town before heading back to work.
