Sandusky-born Brandy Burre is the subject of Actress, a new documentary about her life. She studied acting at Ohio University and after graduating picked up a good gig as Therese D’Agostino on HBO’s The Wire. As Scene’s Sam Allard has written, “This film explores her life, and how, after giving up acting to start a family, and then returning to acting, her life became an absolute shambles. It’s a beautiful exploration of a complicated woman, and ripe for discussion.” Burre is in town this weekend and appears after the 6:30 screening tonight at the Nighlight in Akron and after the 11 a.m. screening on Sunday at the Cedar Lee Theater to host Q&A sessions and talk about the movie. The film will continue to show at the Nightlight through Jan. 1.
