Given the fact that some major rock or pop artist plays the Super Bowl halftime show every year, it makes sense that the folks at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton would enlist classic rockers Aerosmith to perform the first-ever Concert for Legends on Friday, August 7. The concert will pay tribute to the legends of the game on the eve of the Enshrinement for the Class of 2015.
“The Hall is thrilled to have legends of the music world honor the legends of the game,” says Hall of Fame President David Baker in a press release. “Aerosmith performing in the inaugural Concert for Legends will add even more excitement and energy to an Enshrinement Weekend that kicks off the NFL’s 96th season since its birth in Canton, and the launch to Super Bowl 50.”


Aerosmith was formed in Boston, so band members are predictably avid New England Patriots fans. “Having grown up since the age of 2, born in Lawrence, Ma., 45 minutes from Foxborough Stadium and seen the franchise grow has been an amazing experience,” says guitarist Joe Perry in a press release. “As Aerosmith began traveling the world and became our own Hall of Famers, seeing the Patriots under the brilliant guidance of the Kraft family, we would hear the news of our hometown team winning again as we were doing a show in a far flung corner of the world and we would swell with pride and think, ‘Ya those are our boys.’”


Concert for Legends tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, and may purchased on ticketmaster.com, by calling 800-745-3000, or at Ticketmaster retail outlets. Tickets prices: $35, $69, $99, $150 and $225.
