There was a time when local rocker Michael Stanley recorded for a major label and toured the country. Those days are over; today, Stanley functions more like an independent artist. And yet, he’s as prolific as ever, issuing albums on this own label.

At 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum’s Foster Theater, he’ll discuss his new album And Then… with Dr. Lauren Onkey, the Rock Hall’s VP of Education and Public Programming. Stanley produced the album himself. Producer/engineer Bill Szymczyk (Eagles, B.B.King, Joe Walsh, the James Gang, The Who and Santana) mixed it. Following the interview, Stanley will sign copies of the CD.

The event is free with a reservation through the Rock Hall website at tickets.rockhall.com or at the Rock Hall box office. Seating is limited. Rock Hall Members can RSVP starting at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 10. Non-Rock Hall members can RSVP starting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11. The event will also be live streamed on rockhall.com.

Jeff has been covering the Cleveland music scene for more than 25 years now. On a regular basis, he tries to talk to whatever big acts are coming through town. And if you're in a local band that he needs to hear, email him at jniesel@clevescene.com.

One reply on “Classic Rocker Michael Stanley to Discuss New Album at Rock Hall”

  1. Maybe it is just dusty pages of a book stuffed in a storage room at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, but the list of attendance records set by MSB in venues throughout northeast Ohio remain incredibly impressive for the platinum age of arena rock. And the band’s popularity was encapsulated during a concert at the Richfield Coliseum…..when Cheap Trick and REO Speedwagon were the opening acts.
