A former Akronite who now calls Nashville home, singer-guitarist Dan Auerbach of the Arcs and the Black Keys will be a judge for this year’s Tiny Desk Concert contest that NPR launched earlier this year.

As if to show us how it’s done, he and a few members of the Arcs and the all-female mariachi band Mariachi Flor de Toloache that plays on the Arcs debut, Yours, Dreamily, and tours with the group, appeared on the program to play the 500th Tiny Desk Concert. The band played stripped down renditions of “Pistol Made of Bones,” “Stay in My Corner and “Outta My Mind.” Here’s a clip of the group performing.
