While none of the band members that assembled on stage last night at Hard Rock Live could lay claim to being original members of the classic rock group Foreigner, that didnt prevent the capacity crowd from embracing the band. During a 90-minute concert, the group catered to the fans too, delivering hits such as Double Vision, Head Games, and Cold as Ice. In fact, every song in the 11-song set was a radio hit. Rail thin singer Kelly Hansen indulged in plenty of rock move clichés, twirling his microphone in the air like a baton and banging away on a cowbell on numerous occasions. With his tight black jeans and glittering scarf, he looked a bit like Aerosmiths Steven Tyler and carried himself with as much swagger. And he sounded just like original singer Lou Gramm on classic tracks such as Jukebox Hero, which the band turned into a bluesy jam, and “Hot Blooded, which also included a fierce, blues-based guitar riff. For I Want to Know What Love Is, the band invited Solons Note-Oriety Show Choir to perform with it, and the choir added a nice touch to the rendition.
