Updated Post: In the wake of his recovery from coronary surgery, singer-guitarist Michael Stanley, who’s just released Stolen Time, a new studio album, has postponed his Dec. 22 and 23 shows at Hard Rock Live.

New dates will be announced shortly.

Original Post: Last year, local singer-songwriter and WNCX DJ Michael Stanley underwent radiation treatment after being diagnosed with prostrate cancer. Fortunately, he now appears to be cancer free, but his health woes continue. He’s posted on the WNCX website that he’s had coronary surgery.

He writes, “Hey ‘NCX listeners. You may have heard that there have been a few things go wrong in my life here–that would be right. [Fellow WNCX DJ] Bill [Lewis] and I have tried to do our part in filling you in on our battles with prostate cancer. As you know, I am done with that, I’ve moved on.”

He goes to say that he’s “moved on” to coronary bypass surgery.

“I thought, ‘Ya know, there are guys out here getting double bypasses.’ I don’t want to be the low man on the totem pole so I said, ‘Let’s go for four!’ Nevertheless, it could be a while until I get back to full strength here. So I know you all took care of your prostates earlier – Bill and I are very glad about that – now go get your heart checked! I’d like to thank all the well-wishers for your phone calls, texts and emails. You guys keep rocking, and I will talk to you later.”

Stanley, who’s just released Stolen Time, a new studio album, is still slated to perform on Dec. 22 and 23 at Hard Rock Live.

Jeff has been covering the Cleveland music scene for more than 25 years now. On a regular basis, he tries to talk to whatever big acts are coming through town. And if you're in a local band that he needs to hear, email him at jniesel@clevescene.com.

  1. I had two friends that had clogged arteries and both of them had bypass surgery. And both of them died of heart heart attacks within two years. My arteries were clogged up as well, and after seeing what happened to my friends, I tried something different. Hey Michael, if you read this, try taking Nattokinase, Magnesium Citrate and Astragalus. Nattokinase will clear your arteries and the other two things will relax your arteries and blood vessels so that you don’t get clots.

As soon as I started with the Nattokinase, I felt so much better. It took a year, but my arteries are cleared, my blood pressure is down and I rarely get chest pains.
