For several years, the local rock band Second Hand Dogs has worked the local scene and played shows throughout the region. Highlights include playing Dick Godard’s Parade of Pets in 2014 and performing at the Ohio State Fair for the past three years. Now, the band has just announced the release of its debut album.

Inspired by acts such as Jefferson Airplane, the band infuses songs such as “The Rain Song” with a psychedelic rock vibe that’s punctuated by harmony vocals and undulating guitar riffs. The group, which includes singer-guitarist Phil Eberwein, singer-percussionist Darla Eberwein, bassist Salvatore Zingale and percussionist Nathan Seidel, was voted the No. 4 most popular local act on the Cleveland Hotlist. It plays a CD Release Party at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, at the Bevy in Birdtown.

Jeff has been covering the Cleveland music scene for more than 25 years now. On a regular basis, he tries to talk to whatever big acts are coming through town. And if you're in a local band that he needs to hear, email him at jniesel@clevescene.com.
