“Tom Petty made us all believe by singing about ordinary experience in an extraordinary way,” says Greg Harris, President & CEO. “His vocals captured our soul with songs that sounded like hits the first time we heard them. He made his mark on music and our lives.”
Petty is represented inside the Rock Hall by a jacket he wore during a performance with the Heartbreakers at the Live Aid concert in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 13, 1985 [pictured] and by his 2002 Inductee plaque.
He also appears in the Power of Rock film.
Additionally, the Rock Hall shared a video of his induction speech on its Facebook page.
