In light of the group’s full-length debut, the train wreck of a band would do well to have its street team and fans write the next record. Singer Chris Marinin gave Escape the Scene a fatal final mix. The slapdash post-punk doesn’t stand on its own musically and only amounts to so much haphazard genre-skipping: metal riffs, pseudo-symphonic keyboards, gratuitous samples, flat vocals, and awkward attempts at harmonies. Until Who Killed Marilyn? finds its footing, save your entertainment bucks.
