Ask any Lakewood resident and you’ll hear some form of the same refrain: What the hell’s happening to this town? The Detroit Avenue storefronts are gettin’ purty, but the rap sheets are getting uglier by the day. Or maybe they’re just getting better publicity.
Our police blotter lowlight of the day comes courtesy of our friends at Lakewood Patch, who note that the little tykes on Donald Avenue are packing more than sippy cups these days.

Another story I know the gun control people will jump all over, when it should be the police jumping all over the parents that allowed a loaded weapon to fall into the hands of a 3 year old. Just because you go out and buy a weapon does not mean that you know everything you should know about it. If you have never owned or used a weapon, go out and take one of the many courses available for new gun owners. Anyone that has been around weapons knows there are 3 Absolute Rules;
1) Safety
2) Safety
3) SAFETY
I feel safer in Lakewood than I do in Rocky River. But that is because I am a liberal minded old guy who wants to take down the two party system starting with the republicans. I have never been less proud of the overall closed-minded thinking which poisons our suburbs with hatred aimed at the poor and the minorities and the liberal thinking artist types than I am in 2011 Ohio. The artists and thinkers migrated to Lakewood so as not to be persecuted by our right-wing blow-hards in the western suburbs. The recent downgrade of thinking in the western suburbs has been a direct result of the Ohio governor and the republican take over of our states government. The PD has admitted that they sold out and have a need to protect the candidates which they back…right or wrong. The central Ohio media which is controled by the Dispatch and the owners have been in control there for over a century. Nothing but an extension of the constantly more power-freaked out republican party. The power void given to the republicans as a result of the Jimmy and Frank show, was filled with the propaganda from down south on 71, and now guys like me are left to get things back to some degree of reason and sanity–thanks alot Jimmy and Frank and gang. Who’d you think you were? Al Capone and Jimmy the Weazel? Guys like you give the great, salt of the earth Italians in Cleveland a bad name. I do feel more comfortable starting my car now that the FBI is present. Eliot Ness was from Cleveland you know?
So I’m looking for people to do some Jimmy and Frank skits for u-tube. I have them written and they are pretty good, I think. Little John and Big Chuck would be my top choices. I was thinking maybe Jimmy could just play himself. He is still around and most likely unemployed..tuff times for job seekers with lawyer bills to pay. I understand that real well. I tried to go bankrupt but could not even do that right. My trustee mistaked me for a smart and rich guy like Jimmy or Frank, just trying to hide my total and absolute financial destruction. I had to hire a lawyer just to keep me from having my trustee throw me in jail for…for…gosh, I still don’t know, but I sure did make this trustee guy mad. The lawyer had it dismissed so that I could get my total financial destruction more organized and in order. My wife said, ‘Kenny, you can’t even go bankrupt right.’ LOL
Please explain to me how an unattended gun left by a negligent parent is a bellwether for the issue of safety in my community?
