Matt Foreman, executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, issued this statement yesterday in response to the death of the Reverend Jerry Falwell. For your convenience, we’ve added footnotes to translate his message:
“The death of a family member or friend is always a sad occasion (1) and we express our condolences (2) to all those who were close (3) to the Rev. Jerry Falwell. Unfortunately, we will always remember him as a founder and leader of America’s anti-gay industry (4), someone who exacerbated the nation’s appalling response (5) to the onslaught of the AIDS epidemic, someone who demonized and vilified us for political gain and someone who used religion to divide rather than unite our nation.”
1). Yippee! Who needs another mimosa?
2). Something really mean is coming in the next sentence.
3). President Bush, some nut-jobs in Cincinnati, Satan, and probably the Green River Killer.
4). No, I’m not talking about the guys who make plaid shirts.
5). Who got the wrath of God this time, bitch?

The commentaries on this website regarding the death of Rev. Jerry Falwell truly illustrate the accuracy of Godâs Word. Rev. Falwell has been persecuted in our culture for preaching Godâs word. The Bible, which is Godâs Word, tells us that homosexuality is a sin. Donât get upset with Rev. Falwell for stating what the Bible says. It is Godâs law that homosexuals and all sinners are breaking – not Jerry Falwellâs.
Maybe the liberal masses, aka (law breakers) should take their complaints to God, who is the absolute authority and law- maker rather than criticizing Godâs messengers.
it is unfortunate that some would call hate-speech when it is uttered from someone else’s lips, but not when coming from ones own. while i completely disagree with the stance of Dr. Falwell on nearly every issue, why would I revel in the fact that his death has brought about much pain for his family and friends. two wrongs…
Somethings i just don’t get it. The man of God is gone, who cares what u think of him or what he thought of u. What is important is how God sees u and what he thinks about ur behavior. You all think u are right in your beliefs about homosexuality and the good Lord says ur wrong. How about I would not want to be u at judgement on the slim almost nonexistent chance according to your belief system that u are Wrong.
