As we headed to bed last night, with visions of Basketball’s Baddest ‘Fro dancing in our plainly coifed heads, much of the reaction to the Cavaliers’ blockbuster trade centered around GM Danny Ferry, and his ability to “finally pull something off.” There was a lot of talk of “his legacy.” On comment boards and talk-radio and TV, fans and talking heads predicted that the move would save – or, if it went bad, cost – Ferry’s job.
All wonderfully dramatic stuff. If only it were true. …

Cavs fans, be happy, be very very happy you didn’t mortgage your franchise to land J-Kidd. as a lifetime Mavs fan i was ready to send Devean George christmas cards for the rest of my life after he blocked the first proposed trade.
apparently, mark “son of frankenstein” cuban and avery “la cucaracha” johnson haven’t watched Kidd play defense in 3 years (really none of us have, as he can’t anymore), nor did they realize how shallow we’d be at center. so we might limp into the playoffs, but the west is so stacked at point guard, i don’t like our chances against anyone. i mean, we’re not any better than the team that lost to golden state last year.
i’m excited for the Cavs though. this trade is continuing to give them breaths of fresh air. i won’t say it’s the equivalent of KG splashing into the pool of talent in Boston, but you’ve got to feel optimistic about your upcoming playoff run with the influx of role players.
