You may notice an uptick in cruiser presence along I-271 and I-90 in the coming weeks, and if you’re driving like an asshole, they’re going to notice you.

State troopers are camping out specifically to target “aggressive drivers,” by which we assume they mean the good ones, but whatever. Eight troopers have been assigned to Cuyahoga County where they’ll be casting a wary eye in search of tailgaters and other assorted miscreants.

If you’re not sure what constitutes “aggressive driving,” neither are we, except to say with 100% certainty that this qualifies.

  1. It’s also illegal to camp out in the passing lane, so hopefully they’ll be pulling over those people going 58 in that lane as well.

  2. Gee I find it interesting that every time the city runs a deficit financially they need to “make the streets more safe”

Ever ask yourself why you have to wear a seat-belt for “safety” but there are no seat-belts on buses that our children ride each day or RTA buses? Maybe laws are not passed to protect us but to fleece us of even more money and crackdowns are not to make us safer but to write more tickets and create more revenue.Just asking.

  3. About cars pushing cars over to other lanes..
The fast lane was meant to use for passing, NOT SIGHT SEEING.
I cannot tell you how many times, day or night; that I have had to pass on the right side of cars riding the fast lane. Then, one they are passed, the idiots then get over to the middle or slower lanes.

I’ve got an idea; How about troppers pulling over cars that just ride the fast lane? How about using undercover cars to watch this driving behavior?
It doesn’t do any good to pull up behind them in a marker cruiser because everyone slows down and people know to then pull over out of the fast lane.

That’s much better than ticketing drivers for trying to get something to happen and it’s the fault of the car that’s sight seeing!

  4. Your filthy language is offensive and unprofessional for a reporter. I’m done with your disrespectful column.

  5. To Clevelandcantdrive:

It’s not illegal to drive, say, 58 in the “passing” lane because there’s no such thing as the “passing lane.”

Passing on the right side doesn’t mean going faster in the right lane to pass a slower driver who’s in the left lane. It means going OFF THE ROAD to the right of the roadway (onto the berm) to pass.

And to “Poet”: no such thing as the “fast lane” either. If you’re driving fast, that means you’re driving too fast.

I’m guessing both of you are a-hole drivers in big honkin’ SUVs who push other people around, and have been since you were kids.
