Kenneth Weaver III is charged with abandonment and cruelty to animals after leaving his pet Rottweiler to die in an Akron apartment with no food, heat or water.

Akron police reported they were called to the man’s former residence this weekend when the landlord accused his former tenant of stealing some appliances. What they found instead was more horrific.

The Rottweiler’s body was discovered on the living room floor, police reported. The animal appeared to have died from starvation.

The dog’s owner is currently at Summit County Jail.

  1. Are these kinds of atrocities as common elsewhere as they seem to be in Ohio?
I have lived in other parts of the country, and there were far fewer of these horror stories.
Dogs, cats, horses. It happens routinely here. Is it something in the water…or what?
