Lions, and tigers and beers, oh my! The Akron Zoo is seeking to serve beer, wine and liquor after regular public hours and for special events.
Sadly, there’s the “after regular hours” part, meaning daytime guests won’t be playing drinking games within the park anytime soon. The plan is to only let the liquor flow during suit-and-tie events like weddings and corporate picnics.
“We felt it was a good time in keeping the zoo moving forward and generating extra revenue,” an Akron Zoo spokesman told Ohio.com. Currently, the Akron Zoo is the only zoo in the state of Ohio without a liquor permit for special events.
Akron townies can vote on Nov. 3 on two liquor options that will allow the zoo to serve alcoholic beverages. Some are opposed to the sale because of the children. What do you think?
