Chagrin Cinemas, which will shutter at the end of this month, won’t be the first Northeast Ohio movie theater to close in 2023.

AMC Solon closed yesterday, with little or no notice except for statements in the last six months from company executives warning that the theater chain was dealing with dire financial conditions.

The Solon theater opened, as a Regal Cinemas outpost, in 1991.

Ridge Park Square, Westwood Town Center and AMC Classic at Ashtabula Mall remain open.
