Despicable fliers encouraging members of the LGBT community to commit suicide were posted around Cleveland State University’s main classroom building yesterday, the same day that the school opened an LGBT center. “Follow your fellow faggots,” the flier read.

As Eris Eady of the LGBT Center of Greater Cleveland told NewsNet5, not only are the statistics in fact wildly low, “The coercion of someone attempting to take their own life, there is no humor in that. There will never be humor in that. There is nothing funny about death.”

CSU President Ron Berkman issued a statement last night reiterating the school’s commitment to all its students and, this where students are upset, to the First Amendment, “even with regard to controversial issues where opinion is divided. We will continue to protect free speech to ensure all voices may be heard and to promote a civil discourse where educational growth is the desired result.”

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

At Cleveland State University, our foremost priority is maintaining a welcoming environment that provide opportunities for learning, expression and discourse.

CSU remains fully committed to a campus community that respects all individuals, regardless of age, race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation and other historical bases for discrimination.

CSU also is committed to upholding the First Amendment, even with regard to controversial issues where opinion is divided. We will continue to protect free speech to ensure all voices may be heard and to promoste a civil discourse where educational growth is the desired result.

Be assured that a spirit of inclusiveness will always be central to the very identity of our University.

  1. I don’t really get how pointing out suicide statistics is coercing someone to commit suicide, but the statistics are true. People point out suicide statistics for age groups, etc, all of the time. The media refuses to report on the fact that so many people regret transgender surgeries, and there is a high suicide rate. They love the people so much supposedly, yet they don’t want them to know they could be making a decision that could have detrimental effects.

    This is another of example of progressives in pretend land, wanting to deny reality.

    “Fascist Solutions” seems like a pretty dumb group though. The name almost seems parodic.

  2. ^^ BrianWilson – The top of the flier has been cut off by the picture. It says, “Follow Your Fellow Faggots.” This is not “progressives in a pretend land.” This is a flier telling LGBTQ+ individuals to commit suicide as it is explicitly noted in the title.

  3. Brian: The point they’re trying to make us that suicide is the solution for the supposed problem of LGBT people existing. Even if it’s parody, that’s a jarring and violent thing to suggest when an LGBT center is being opened l.

  4. If it turns out this was posted by someone connected to the LGBT community to garner sympathy as is so common these days, I hope we’ll hear about it from Cleveland Scene. It’s probably worth knowing that Fascist Solutions isn’t a local group (it hardly appears to be a group at all) and that this ham-fisted flier was pretty much just hoovered off of some Reddit page. Looks like some graphic design student touched it up, though.

    I doubt my fellow LGBT people have anything to worry about on campus.<3

  5. is this dude seriously saying that someone telling another person to kill their self is civil discourse?
    Where is the educational growth in that? Literally the only thing you could say, is that you agree that they should kill their selves. Which just shows everyone how horrible you are as a person.
    No humanity no empathy or sympathy. Just an empty husk of wicked.

Life is full of adventures. i think we need to aware the people about their lives and suicidal step quite worst step in fact useless so try to live like a strong person because ups and down are the part of life ..well i saw this kind of information on my friend’s blog http://www.essaycenter.biz/research-paper and it made me so sad about that kind of mentality.
