Friday, mall owners Brookfield Properties announced plans to make the spot even more of an experience for potential shoppers.
“Beachwood Place has been a staple within the community for over 40 years,” the Toronto-based company said in a statement. “To ensure it remains a premier retail destination, Beachwood Place must evolve to meet the changing needs of its community. We listen to our guests and incorporate their feedback into our plans, protocols and leasing strategies. These development plans represent our commitment to Beachwood and a new era of the shopping center.”
The vision includes an outdoor theater and a lot more green space for potential events and activities like lawn games. There are also plans for a food truck lot at the mall’s Richmond and Cedar road corner — where businesses like Diamonds Direct and Mitchell’s Ice Cream have already set up shop.
Beachwood Place is competing with fellow eastside shopping centers like Legacy Village and Pinecrest, which are both outdoor concepts.
Dates for construction and completion have not yet been announced.
