With all due respect to the other TV investigative reporters in Cleveland, there is Carl Monday, and then there is the rest of you. Nationally known, tenacious, mustachioed, Carl’s the best in the biz. No one’s mic probes deeper.
Last night’s 19 Action News broadcast (Slogan: First at 4 and 5, with the news you read on Twitter at 12) was a little different than most. Along with the trademarked zooms and splashes and touch screens, Channel 19 also brought you two-plus hours of the Carl Monday mass tipline.
If you missed it, just imagine the PBS pledge drive desk — a bank of phones, lots of bored people pretending to talk to people on the phone and writing notes, lots of phones ringing. It was a special one-time only plea for your help, because Carl Monday can’t do what Carl Monday does without you. So viewers were encouraged to call in, reminded by Sharon Reed during live look-ins that the phones were buzzing and Carl Monday was ready to hear your hot news tip.
Whether this was simply a gimmick, or a gimmick dreamed up because Carl Monday’s tip supply has run dry, who knows. You don’t question Carl Monday.
We wanted to call, not to give Carl a tip, but to find out what sort of NPR-like swag viewers who dished the dirt could get. Here’s the unofficial results of our investigation:

Carl Monday is an arrogant idiot
Too bad he missed THE investigation: The Cuyahoga County Corruption probe. While 60 some politicians and business persons were ripping the Cuyahoga County residents off, Carl was being…Carl.
I’m not a big fan of 19 Action News. They sensationalize everything that they report – get facts wrong and make a big deal out of some pretty little things! While some of the investigations are interesting, as always, they concentrate more on the particular reporters “opinions” rather than simply giving the viewer information. That’s what is wrong with current media. No one cares about the anchor’s (…or reporter’s for that matter) opinion on things! Just present the facts and let the viewer form their own view.
I think one of the most disappointing stories ever, was the one he reported on about Prostitution in the area and, “Oh my, it’s in OUR city! Lock your doors!”. Not to mention how he completely insulted the fine ladies that he interviewed when they responded, “I’m working to pay my way through school.” and he responded with, “Yeah, I bet.”
Good grief! Its been around since the beginning of time and it not going to disappear…ever. It’s nothing new and certainly nothing to report on.
I have a few choice words for this Carl Monday but I can’t post them here.
I think he should investigate Lifebank. Do you know that if you answer yes to wanting to be a donor on your drivers license, they don’t even give your family an option? My wife passed away last month and they called right as I walked in the door from the hospital. I explained that she had been through enough and I just couldn’t bare the thought of her being cut up and they said she had already given her permission by saying yes on her drivers license and they were going to go ahead and take her tissue anyhow. I have never been against organ donation but they weren’t taking organs, they were taking bones and skin!!! We were not able to have an open casket viewing. BEWARE!!!! Say NO when they ask about organ donation at the license bureau, your family can still say yes after your passing if they choose. You can also go on the BMV website and take yourself off. and I would donate organs only, they have enough bone and skin to last 15 yrs and most is not getting used!!!!! SAY NO!!!!!! They are vultures

I agree 100% Gary, my mom died last month and Lifebanc called all night long and then when I finally spoke with them I was told they didn’t need my permission just my cooperation. They hounded me all night and into the next morning. I think they need to be investigated too. Have you seen their new building? Seems awful nice for a “nonprofit” organization and did you see the article that their CEO demands that anyone that works for them or does any work for them has to register on their license to be a donor? What kind of crap is that? I spoke to the nurse that cared for my mom and she said to tell them she had Hepatitis B or C and that would end the calls. Like you I am all for organ donation to save lives but they are crooked. Thanks for the info about bones and skin. I already took myself off the BMV as did the rest of my family.
Poor little guy. You sound so mad at the world with your crying about organ donation. You don’t have anything else to offer the world Mr. Done with. You can’t take your organs with you no matter how bad you want to, might as well allow yourself to for once, put somebody, anybody, ahead of your own self entered childish ego – you will be DEAD after all pal.

my brother is an handicap and have an tracx. they let him in dirty room they don’t clean his tracx nor do they pull the rail up .today after church i when to see him his bottom lip is busted from them liking him fall my brother only and good weight 55 lbs if even that .you can hear his chest need to be suck out and he don’t get any meds because he can’t talk .when i first came i smell poop on him that was on him all day long my brother fighting for his life. i ask the aide and the nurse if these patients wasn’t here would you have an job half of them lying in their on stool and many push in the hall sleep on the c-pap machine. this nursing home is killing him quicker .you got some people that get an job for the money but not for the care of the sick.when the aide told me they mistreat the sick just because they can’t talk .well i’m being the talk person for them. i have video of the conversation and how they set at the desk and let sick push that call button and do nothing this is the worst place anyone could ever go .i ask them do you bath him due to him looking like pig pen on charlie brown they look me in my face and straight lied. this can go on like this no ‘one should be treated like trash
