“Man, I wish I could pitch like Jorge.” The natural order of the universe was reversed recently. C.C. Sabathia was booed at the Prog, and Jorge Julio was cheered. No word on whether Frank Jackson shaved, but I wouldn’t be surprised.
Sabathia, pitching against the A’s on Friday, threw less like a guy with a Cy Young on his mantle and more like a guy with the name of a pizza shop on the back of his jersey, allowing nine runs against the A’s before getting yanked in the fourth inning. He threw flat, lifeless pitches in giving up 12 hits and two walks. After the game, as reporters prodded him to explain his struggles, Sabathia hit the target for the first time all night: “I just suck right now.” …
