Some art for some art. That’s how the new mural exchange is working between the Sister Cities of Cleveland and Rouen, France. Celebrating 10 years linked together, an artist from Rouen recently finished a mural on the Market Garden Brewery building near Cleveland’s west side market, now it’s Cleveland’s turn to reciprocate.

City officials are now asking for any and all local artists to apply to partner with Rouen artists Idem & Mozaik this November to collaborate on a mural that will stretch about 2,500 square feet. From these submissions the city government in France will select the artist they deem most appropriate for the project. The winner receives free airfare, lodging, food and art supplies during his or her time working on the mural.

Any area artist looking to bring their art to France should sign up one of two ways, via PDF, or directly online right here.

  1. This is absolutely amazing, connecting Cleveland with France, considering I. M. Pei created both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as well as the Louvre. Bringing Cleveland and France back together again, is a beautiful remembrance of what was united before.
