Here’s an eerie tale for your holiday week.

During a recent renovation project, a Cleveland-based contractor discovered what might be an original signature by notorious serial killer Jack the Ripper.

According to a report by NewsNet 5, Ken Maynard and his construction crew had stripped 9 layers of wall paper from a Scranton Rd. dining room before finding a penciled signature etched onto the wall’s original plaster.

“The circa is right. The timeline is right. I have a date on the wall over there that says March 16, 89. I believe 89 would mean 1889 and some of Jack’s letters were written in 1888,” Maynard told News Net 5.

When the crew and family living in the home compared the discovered signature to that of some online, they said the similarities were striking.

The family is now looking toward the Cleveland Historical Society for more answers.

  1. Except for the fact that Jack the Ripper lived in London…DaFuq!? Nice try…? Not really. Maybe you read it wrong…maybe it was Hitler’s, or Stalin’s…or Genghis Kahn’s even…

  5. There’s a theory that the Mad Butcher of Cleveland was also Jack the Ripper… can anyone else corroborate this?

  6. The last Jack the Ripper killing was about 1890 while the torso killing started in 1935 that’s a long time for a killer that violent. Maybe a protege?

  7. two retired Scotland yard detectives who worked on the ripper case did visit Cleveland at the behest of elliot ness then Cleveland safety director to share details; later the black dahlia murder had los angeles detectives visit as they thought the Cleveland torso murderer might have made it out west; there were also a series of similar torso murders at the same time in Pennsylvania along their railroad line leading ness to believe it may have been a hobo riding the rails;
