Cleveland’s Fox 8 News published a rather frightening video report yesterday detailing the poor bathroom etiquette that goes down on game days at the Muni lot.
The video opens with footage of Clevelanders slinging back beers and getting amped for kickoff, then proceeds to illustrate the cause and effect scenarios of guzzling large quantities of liquid with limited access to facilities.
If you’ve ever been to the Muni Lot, you know that Clevelanders can get pretty creative when they gotta go, and many fans routinely bring their own popup porta-potties (AKA a five-gallon bucket protected by a tent).
The problem isn’t so much the going in a portable popup, but rather what fans are choosing to do with the buckets o’ urine once they’ve reached cap.
Any guesses?
The ol’ dump and ditch seems to be a fan favorite. That’s right, Clevelanders are opting to dump gallons upon gallons of human urine into the ground and into storm sewers, many of which funnel directly into Lake Erie.
As the Fox 8 report so poignantly states, that’s “where we swim, and play, and lounge in the sand[!]”
Ew.
Watch the full report from Fox 8, and perhaps you’ll think twice about dumping and ditching this upcoming Sunday.

I have been screaming about this for years!! I have parked in the Muni lot Mon-Fri for close to 10 years now and am SICKENED every Monday after a Browns home game! The STENCH that comes off of that pavement and surrounding grass areas is BEYOND disgusting!! There is no excuse for this!! There are PLENTY of city provided port-o-potties, USE THEM!! Take a few minutes out of your drinking binge and be a HUMAN!! STOP PISSING EVERYWHERE!!
To resist is to piss in the wind.
there is not plenty of prt a pottys there is like maybe 25 in a lot where there is 2000 people for sure not enough , if you don’t tail gate don’t comment on something you don’t know, although its not right to pour it anywhere it needs to be addressed right now
Oh my god!!! I just found out that fish pee in that lake too!!!
When the port a pottys are filled beyond the brim on the toilet sit, there is no way you can use them; it’s freakin disgusting. I agree with Mike Drake you just can’t dump it anywhere, but there needs to be a resolution to this problem. I was at the Baltimore game, and they didn’t even allow for the portable pee tents to be present. Thus the longer lines for the port a pottys. I’m pretty sure the dumping has been going on since the muni lot has been used for tailgating so this isn’t a new problem.
If anyone has experienced tailgating in the muni lot you would know that there are not enough port-o-potties and the ones that they do provide fill up and literally start overflowing with urine and feces. If the city would provide more facilities for people this problem wouldn’t be happening. Or at least provide a “dumping unit” where people can properly dispose of the waste from the buckets.
Nate – Freshwater fish urine is so dilute it’s pretty much just water anyway.
And when it rains heavy and the sewers overflow the same thing happens on a much larger scale…
OBVIOUSLY THE CITY NEW THERE WAS AN ISSUE, BUT DID NOYTHING….LOLL!!!!! I THOUGHT IT WAS KINDA CREATIVE ( WITH THE TENTS AND THE BUCKET….LOL) HECK IF THE WAS A TREE AND IT GOT WATERED!!!!!
Julia, you really shouldn’t comment on things you have no knowledge of.
You do realize that urine is sterile correct? I am not offended by this at all. What offends me is thousands of gallons of shit on edgewater beach after every heavy downpour… Way to go water treatment plant
Human urine is non-toxic, anti-septic, and sterile. It won’t hurt anything. It just smells bad. Relax people.
Where do you think fishermen piss when they are out trying to catch those fish pissing in the lake. And I’m sure no one swimming in the lake ever took a piss.
Typical Fox news reporting, much ado about nothing, with a big overblown headline teaser to get people to tune in. That’s why I never watch that channel for news
Um, if this really bothers you, then I have even worse news for you regarding public swimming pools…
