The current owners of Brandywine Country Club are collaborating with the Trust for Public Land, a nonprofit whose work is focused on creating parks and conserving public territories, to turn the golf course into an open area that would be a piece of the now 33,000-acre Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the National Park Service confirmed.
The 215-acre golf course is located about 15 minutes south of Brandywine Ski Resort, and if converted, could serve more than 2.4 million people, which was the estimated amount of visitors to the park in 2016.
According to the Akron Beacon Journal, the previous owner, Ryan Yesberger, tragically died by suicide on the property last summer. Yesberger was the grandson of Earl Yesberger, who started the golf course in the 1960s, and the son of Brett Yesberger, who passed down the business to his son after his death in 2009.
Following Ryan Yesberger’s death, the golf course was closed down and the property acquired by Brandywine Country Club Inc.

Something this National Park (CVNP) is sorely lacking is CAMPING OPPORTUNITIES. Having golfed Brandywine many times . . . I think this property would be a great setting for some limited camp sites. There should be sites appropriate for each type of camping. From through hikers tent camping and secluded rustic sites on the back 9, possibly a group camping area, to a few glamper sites up near the road and clubhouse. Not too much to overrun Penninsula. But, enough to benefit businesses and provide a home base for seeing and enjoying the park for those who enjoy this lifestyle. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CONSIDER THIS!
